Flooding & Machinery Failure - Salvage Operation
While OIL PRODUCT TANKER "SWEET LADY" was sailing in the South Part of Red Sea seawater ingress was observed from her fore peak and flat bottom. Further her engine room was completely flooded resulting in her machinery failure. Vessel stayed out of command with a substantial list of 30o. POSEIDON was appointed by her shipowners initially for her towage which turned out to be salvage. The fully equipped SALVAGE TUG "VOUKEFALAS" was dispatched which under adverse weather conditions managed to tow her back to the inner anchorage of Aden port (Yemen). Thereafter seawaters were pumped out and extensive diving works were carried out for her water-tightening. In total seven (7) patches were welded. Further de-oiling and cleaning/preserving services in her engine room were rendered.
