Following a firebreak in her engine room, the B/C “ANAFI” sustained extensive damages in her engine room and accommodation area. POSEIDON was subcontracted by MATSAS for the pumping, diving and antipollution works. Deployed around the vessel 300m oil containment booms, skimmed bilge effluents within the area of booms, sealed all sea chests and overboard discharges by welding of steel plates and pumped out 11000 tons of oily water from her flooded engine room by use of anti-explosive type, air pumps. The pumped quantities were temporarily stored in two barges' tanks and further delivered to reception facilities at Kynosoura.
