Following vessel's grounding on August 29th, POSEIDON was subcontracted by MESSRS MATSAS for the bunkers/oil removal as well as prevention/control of pollution. De-oiling operation included deployment of booms, pumping out & temporary storage of 500mt of slops in MOTHER VESSEL “VERGINA I” slop tanks, plugging all her openings i.e. overboards, seachests, ventilators and water tightening of cracks caused by the grounding.
